Map reveals 15 best kebab shops in the UK – is your local takeaway on the list?

THE 15 best takeaway kebab shops around the UK have been revealed and many will be wondering if their local shop made the list.

The annual British Kebab Awards aim to celebrate local takeaways and restaurants.

It’s estimated that 1.3million kebabs are sold each year, contributing around £2.8million to our economy.

There are more than 20,000 small and independent kebab restaurants and takeaways in the UK and the industry is constantly growing.

But 15 joints around the UK have been shortlisted to take the crown as the best regional takeaway kebab shop in the country, stretching from Ramsgate in Kent to Swadlincote in Derbyshire.

Last year, E G Charcoal Grill in East Grinstead, West Sussex, was named best regional kebab takeaway in the UK.

Now in its 13th year, the ceremony to honour Britain’s best kebab shops, takeaways and restaurants will be held on February 26, where the winners will be announced.

Fans can vote for their favourite restaurant in the following categories: 

• Best delivery
• Best Greek restaurant and/or takeaway
• Best kosher shawarma restaurant and/or takeaway
• Best Lebanese restaurant and/or takeaway
• Best takeaway regional
• Best value restaurant
• Best vegan kebab (restaurant or takeaway)
• Chef of the year
• Customer satisfaction
• Fine dining restaurant
• Kebab van of the year
• Supplier and manufacturer award

There are also several regional categories, including: 

• Best kebab house in Northern Ireland
• Best kebab house in Scotland
• Best kebab house in Wales
• Best kebab restaurant in North and West London
• Best kebab restaurant in South and East London
• Best takeaway in London
• Best kebab restaurant regional
• Best newcomer restaurant in London or outside of London

Ibrahim Dogus, founder of the British Kebab Awards, said: “The competition is heating up, and we’ll be revealing British best kebab restaurants in less than a month.

“London may dominate the finalists, but Liverpool, Glasgow and Belfast are all punching above their weight and showing the strength in depth across the country’s kebab houses.
