MULTIPLE government websites have crashed, including for Universal Credit.
Issues on the Gov.uk sites began before 6am today, according to internet outage tracker Downdetector.
Over 150 people have also reported issues logging in to HM Revenue & Customs – where users can set up tax accounts or register for Self-Assessment – since 5.40am.
Seventy-four percent of reports relate to logging in, and affects areas across the UK, including major cities London, Birmingham, Manchester and Nottingham.
Yesterday gov.uk had shared a post encouraging people to renew their passport.
One X user wrote in response: “It seems that so many people needed to renew their passports, this morning, that it has crashed the site.”
