ALDI have brought out a dupe of an axed Greggs bake which fans used to say was “the best”.
Shoppers are going crazy after spotting the pastries on shelves for 72% cheaper than the original.

Aldi‘s Crestwood Katsu Chicken bakes are flying off shelves for just £1.39.
An excited customer who spotted the bargain took to the Aldi UK Shoppers to share the discovery, writing: “New spotted this morning, Katsu chicken bakes. Only £1.39 for a pack of two in the freezer!”
One savvy member replied: “Need to try these as Greggs don’t do them anymore!”
Another quipped: “It’s a bit of Greggaldi’s there!”
Gregg’s katsu chicken bakes were discontinued last month, causing outrage from fans.
It came after they were momentarily discontinued in Christmas 2024, then welcomed back in February – only to be dropped again.
At the time, shocked punters swarmed the bakery on X, probing: “@GreggsOfficial why have you removed the chicken katsu curry bakes from your shops they’re the best item on the menu with so much flavour.”
Another added: “Listen up @GreggsOfficial. I know you like to change things up.
“But either the Chicken Katsu Bake stays or I lose my marbles.”
Greggs have made no signal of U-turning on their decision.
But Aldi have heard the people, and decided to give them what they want.
Aldi’s new chicken katsu bake box means you only spend 70p per pastry – a bargain compared to what you would have paid in Greggs.
Greggs’ bakes were were roughly £2.50 when they were on the market, though prices can vary with location.
If you’re looking to get your hands on the dupe, you can find them in Aldi’s freezer aisle with the other oven pastry goods.
They are not yet featured on the Aldi website and may not be in all UK stores – so its worth ringing up your local to find out.
Or you can ask a shopping assistant when you’re in store if you struggle to find them.
To find your nearest Aldi, you can go on the website and use the Store Finder tool.
However always remember to compare prices before you shop, whether this is through search engines or via a price comparison site like Trolley.
Tesco does 8 Mini Chicken Katsu Pasties for £2.
This makes them 25p a pastie– but they are much smaller and eaten cold.
While Aldi is probably still the best deal here, it goes to show how it can be useful to weigh up your options.
