SUPERDRUG has announced it will be shutting two more stores in just weeks, following a string of closures.

Customers have been left devastated by the news that the popular beauty retailer will be closing more of their high street shops this summer.

The brand is saying goodbye to its Grantham location in Lincolnshire on August 9, and its Redruth store in Cornwall on August 16.

Cornwall residents react to store closure

Cornwall residents expressed their disappointment by this news with one saying: “This is so sad… always go there over boots.”

Another told BirminghamLive: “That’s sad. The staff in there are lovely, very friendly and helpful.”

Superdrug has over 830 stores across the UK and Ireland and is a high street staple for many.

Superdrug has apologised for the inconvenience this may cause

A company spokesperson said: “We apologise for any inconvenience this closure may cause and sincerely thank our customers for their support.”

They also explained that the company plans to support all staff members affected by deploying them to nearby branches where possible.

Grantham locals feel similarly disheartened, after Superdrug announced the closure of a store which has been in the town for over 40 years.

One took to Facebook, writing: “Heard the sad news today that Superdrug will be closing down.

This town is dying.”

It is not yet clear why the Grantham branch is closing, but the news has sparked fears over the future of the town centre, which has already seen lots of other big names vanish in recent years.

Superdrug announced another closure in January this year

This comes after Superdrug closed its Bournemouth site at the beginning of the year, leaving locals reeling.

The retailer told The Sun that it would be exiting the location due to the landlord’s desire to redevelop the site.

The closure was branded “ridiculous” by locals who feared their home was becoming a “ghost town.”

One solemn shopper said: “Bournemouth has died.”

While another added that it was “shocking” and wondered “what had gone wrong.”
